Principles
The rights to privacy of people having dealings with ChangeAbility –donors and people who receive a service from ChangeAbility, volunteers, employees – shall be assured in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993. Personal data or information in any form will be managed with diligence.
ChangeAbility will be open and accountable about how personal information is handled.
Do we use cookies?
Yes – cookies are pieces of information that will be sent by ChangeAbility when you log onto our web site. These will be stored on your computer’s hard drive, to allow us to recognise you as a user when you next visit.
Personal information personally provided
ChangeAbility collects personal information held about an individual by way of forms filled out, face to face meetings and interviews, telephone calls, email and sometimes through use of contractors/consultants.
When collecting information:
- Only information necessary for the activities of ChangeAbility will be collected and recorded
- Information given in confidence will remain confidential
- Personal information provided by other people
- In some circumstances, ChangeAbility may receive personal information about an individual from a third party – for example, references or referrals

In general, ChangeAbility will use or disclose information only for the primary purpose for which the information was collected. When information is to be used or disclosed for other than the primary purpose for which it was collected, consent will be obtained wherever practicable.

As a condition of employment, ChangeAbility’s staff and volunteers are expected to respect the confidentiality of information and the privacy of individuals.
ChangeAbility will take reasonable steps to ensure that the information it collects, uses, retains or discloses is accurate, complete, and up to date.
Credit and debit card security
We work diligently to protect the security of your personal information, including credit and debit card information. When you submit personal information including credit card details, a secure server is used. We protect your information during transmission by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, which encrypts your information when transmitted over the Internet. You can check that the SSL is active by looking for the padlock symbol on many browsers.
